Hi all,

Just a short note to let you know I haven’t been hauled away by a pack of rabid dogs or been in a Mexican prison. I’ve been hella busy with other things in life and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. That’s why I’m putting a bullet into Black Aces for now, effectively ending the run that’s been going on since 2007 and before that on the original Black Aces in 2004.

The reasons: I have a new child on the way in August and a new position at work that takes up almost all of my time that I previously had for the blog. There’s just no way I can keep it current so I’m going to “walk before they make me run”, as Keith Richards once said.

It doesn’t mean Black Aces is permanently dead. It’s just on hold until I have some real time. I don’t want people coming here looking for new content when a big deal goes down and being disappointed. If something so momentous happens that I can’t help myself but write a few hundred words, I’ll do so. Who knows, maybe in a few months I’ll get the itch again and find the time in the middle of the night with 3 cups of coffee flowing through my sleep deprived brain. If I do pick it up again, I’ll post a notice on Twitter, so go ahead and follow me there if you don’t already.

So that’s it. For now. Thanks to all my readers for sticking with the blog so long. I’ll still be around, but with a couple kids hanging off me screaming to watch Thomas The Tank Engine instead of Ottawa vs. Buffalo on a Tuesday night. That’s life I guess.

We've disagreed a bunch, but I've always found you to be one of the best reads in the Sens blogosphere. Congrats on the life changes, and know that your readers hope you're back whenever time allows.

Cheers,
Josh

Congratulations on the soon-to-be new arrival, Milks. It's a damned shame that you won't have time for the blog anymore, as this was easily one of my favourites, but as a self-employed father of two, I completely understand. You have to do what's right for you and for your family... and this is, after all, just a game.

That said, let's not pretend you won't be up at 2 or 3am anyways many nights with the baby. Surely, you can squeeze in a few minutes to entertain the masses.

I will miss reading you. It had been weird that there was no posts in a while. Congratulations on the baby :)

Simultaneous congratulations and booooo!!! (just kidding, Jeremy).

As a father of 2 pretty young kids, I absolutely get it. Hopefully, your kids will be awesome sleepers/eaters, and you'll be able to put up a few posts next season.

I have been reading you for years and always enjoyed your thoughts and position, even if we didn't always agree (but most times we have).

You are departing at a great time because I believe the Sens are in for a continued tailspin for a few years - we should finish in the bottom 5 of the NHL this year. This tailspin will likely continue for many years or until we get new ownership.

At any rate, as a father of three children I can relate to your situation but do not fret life will get easier in a few years (not to scare you but it will likely take 5-6 yrs!).

Have you thought about having someone else work on the site for a few months, under your watch, to see how that goes? I would be happy to write some blogs for the site.
let me know. cheers
Will
